Striking and Healing(Isaiah 19)
May 11, 2026
Furthermore, I will hand the Egyptians over to a cruel master,
And a mighty king will rule over them,” declares the Lord GOD of armies. (Isaiah 19:4, NASB)
This chapter speaks about Jehovah’s revelation on Egypt. God has already prophesied how Egypt will face disasters, and also prophesied that it will receive redemption, that demonstrates God’s justice and love.
The first prophecy is how God will strike down Egypt. (Isaiah 19:1-15, NASB), why does God need to strike Egypt? At the time, Egypt was a nation that worshipped idols and often oppressed Israel. Due to justice, God will punish Egypt, and these kinds of punishment can be organized into three kinds: in this order, wars, natural disasters (economic recession), leaders being misled (policy errors). These prophecies were all fulfilled in that order.
It led to drought, a weakened Egypt, which subsequently caused Egypt to be conquered by the Assyrians, Babylonians, and Persian empires.
The occurrings became a sign and testimony for the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt. Egyptians were begging the Lord due to the oppression, so He sent a savior to save them. (Isaiah 19:20, NASB)
Aside from that, God has prophesied salvation. (Isaiah 19:16-25, NASB), as long as they are willing to repent, God will arise and send a savior to save them. This part of the prophecy, from a historical angle, has no basis; but from a spiritual perspective, it is very evident. And their dead bodies will lie on the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. (Revelation 11:8, NASB) This section talks about Egypt, which indicates this world, and the savior is Lord Jesus. God will strike down the world in righteousness and also save people out of love, so that they may repent and come to know God, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.
So you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. (Matthew 24:33)
From this angle reflecting back on today, the world still has large and small wars, and often has natural disasters. It seems that the end times are drawing closer than ever. Christians living in these end times, having understood the truth, must be vigilant and prepare themselves so as to not perish with the world. Additionally, we must not accept God’s grace in vain. And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain (2 Corinthians 6:1). The way to “not receive in vain” is also very simple: do more of the Lord’s work, widely spread the gospel, and reconcile the people in the world with God so that you can receive salvation from God.
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19, NASB)
