Being God’s Blessed People (Isaiah 61)
June 22, 2026
But you will be called the priests of the LORD; You will be spoken of as ministers of our God.
You will eat the wealth of nations,
And you will boast in their riches.Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion.
Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land,
Everlasting joy will be theirs.
(Isaiah 61:6-7)
In this chapter, Isaiah received anointing to “bring good news to the humble, bind up the brokenhearted, give freedom to prisoners, proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn.” (see Isaiah 61:1-2) This is the mission God gave Isaiah, and the mission of all of us as God’s servant. Today we received God’s spirit and abilities, we need to spread the gospel to those who receive it with humility and those who are poor in the spirit, people who are unsatisfied, allowing them to be healed with Lord Jesus’s spirit, to be saved from sin and receive freedom, to receive freedom from all sorts of limitations that control them. Therefore when we spread the gospel and pray for others, do not doubt your abilities, because Lord Jesus’s spirit abides with us, and we do not rely on ourselves but rather on God’s abilities.
For as the earth produces its sprouts,
And as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise,To spring up before all the nations.
(Isaiah 61:11)
Though Israelites were truly unbearable and disobedient, but God’s time of acceptance has dawned upon them, God’s hour of salvation has arrived. God is going to set free the ones who have been crushed by sin and those with a contrite spirit to receive comfort. As such, God’s favorite year has dawned upon us in our lives. We are accepted by God, there is no need to doubt it. Through Jesus, we are no longer servants to sin. Because of Jesus, all our sin debt is entirely forgiven. We are to receive a fulfilling inheritance that belongs to us.
God’s day of grace has come. Not only did it reach the Israelites and our lives, but God’s will is to approach everyone’s lives. God sets free everyone who is bound by sin, and those who are miserable amidst sufferings. We are gentiles according to the flesh, unrelated to Christ, and are outside of Israelites, complete outsiders to all promises and covenants, and our lives on earth have no hope because we do not have God. However, now we live in Christ, and through His blood we are close to God. This is such a great blessing. We ought to cherish it even more, and have good deeds and character, revealing the way of life, in order to be worthy of the gospel received.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does. (James 1:23-25)
From the past until now, there are still people who wonder and ask: Is the One I believe in truly the only true God in the world? Of course, yes! The one and only Almighty God is constantly watching over and protecting us, being with us at all times, this is real! Do not doubt, but simply believe. With a longing and earnest heart, pray sincerely. As long as we are willing, we can enjoy a life blessed by God. “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Luke 11:9)
We can not satisfy our basic doctrines, we need to learn and growing up, deepen the quality of faith, rooting downward and growing upward.
(see Isaiah 37:31) A person’s roots in faith must be deeply rooted, and can withstand trials, with Lord Jesus as the foundation, built in Truth, and viewing faith seriously. This is termed “take root downward and bear fruit upward”. People have bad traits, and we need to find out areas where we are weak. How do we do that? Everyone has flaws, and we need to identify our shortcomings. How do we do this? We need to return to a humble and gentle heart, receive the teachings planted by the Lord, so that our souls may receive the way of life and put those teachings into practice.
Then all your people will be righteous;
They will possess the land forever,
The branch of My planting,The work of My hands,That I may be glorified.
(Isaiah 60:21)
Therefore we should be careful in every single aspect of our faith, not taking it lightly. We shouldn’t lose a single person because of any accidents on our part. We rely on God’s grace to walk on the path of faith. Though we meet large difficulties and trials in front of us, and it seems very difficult, but God’s promise is never in vain. We must rely on God’s promise. On this pathway of faith we set our eyes upon Jesus, continuing forwards, and we will receive God’s approval and salvation!
But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.’ (Jeremiah 7:23)
